The release is part of a series of paired singles from Jordan and arrives shortly after the release of ‘Always Been’ / ‘First Time Back’, which marked their first solo music since the release of their critically acclaimed 2021 EP “Watch Out!”.
Tried and tested on the road for a solid year now, club-ready “Hey Baby” has become the most-requested track from Jordan’s formidable DJ sets around the world, from Marseille to Mexico City; from Primavera to Glastonbury. “Hey Baby is a fun club track that doesn't take itself seriously! I've been playing it in clubs and festivals for the last year and it's always gone down a treat” they comment. Second single “I Had the Best of Times” is a euphoric and downtempo contrast to the high energy of ‘Hey Baby’, “I Had the Best of Times was made during a reflective time over the Christmas holidays just over a year ago, it's the calming balance to Hey Baby!”. The contrasting singles work together as a pair to create a perfect balance and reminder of Jordan’s immense talent as a varied and versatile producer.
Released earlier this year in June ‘Always Been’ / ‘First Time Back’ received excellent pick up across with board with support from The Guardian, Pitchfork, Clash, Mixmag, NME, DIY mag, DJ mag and FADER who commented that “It's pretty impossible to not be swept away by something so pure in intention and flawless in execution”. Radio support has also been impressive, with “Always Been” recently added to the BBC 6 Music A-List.
2022 is proving to be a huge year for I. JORDAN, having released a collaborative single with hit-maker Fred Again.. in February, receiving a nomination for Best Producer at the annual NME Awards and heading out on their first tour of North America this February. The year shows no sign of slowing down for them either, with 4 dates supporting Flume in September and October alongside another North American tour. It follows on from a hugely successful 2021 with the release of EP "Watch Out!" which received widespread praise from the likes of Pitchfork, Crack, Resident Advisor, NME, Mixmag, FADER and The Guardian. To top it all off, DJ Mag and NME featured Jordan as their cover star.
‘Hey Baby’ is out now on Ninja Tune.
