Love Song

Brooklyn-based duo Gilligan Moss share their first track of 2023 entitled ‘Love Song’ appropriately arriving on Valentine’s Day via Foreign Family Collective.

While releasing a track called Love Song on a Hallmark holiday might raise some eyebrows the track sounds more like a hazy memory of the first few beautiful days spent with a crush than a montage in a budget love film. This playful, tongue-in-cheek release date mirrors the jubilance and playful irreverence that sit on two sides of the coin that is Gilligan Moss.
Combining a hypnotic sample with breezy vocals and staccato guitar riffs the song seems to constantly build and blossom just like a new love does, there is guarded yet unabashed joy in every note. The song is a family affair with both Ben, Evan and their respective partners singing on the track.
“We wrote this one as an ode to a feeling we hope everyone knows—the absolute rush of falling in love without hesitation. We were searching for something that sounds like the reflection of your smile in your crush’s eyes on a beautiful day, the feeling of endless momentum with nowhere to go. This song reminds us of so many happy moments and we hope everyone gets to find someone or something that makes them feel like this song sounds.” says Gilligan Moss about the track.
Gilligan Moss is Ben & Evan. Friends since meeting at Park West Preschool in Chicago at age three. Their first musical collaboration was a spectacular performance at a summer camp in the northern woods of Wisconsin which has been widely bootlegged and shared amongst collectors though has yet to see an official release. Since reconnecting in 2015 they’ve written some songs, made some remixes and released their debut self titled album on Foreign Family Collective. They’ve appeared live touring with the likes of ODESZA, Glass Animals, Elderbrook, Tourist and Toro y Moi
The music they make is jubilant and fun—drawing from a shared love of music both old and new spanning a wide swath of genres. Their music sounds best with a chilled glass of wine and close friends, but also sounds excellent while filling out excel spreadsheets, doing laundry and staying out way too late at the club with friends and enemies alike.
In support of ‘Love Song’ they launched a fan-centric crowdsource campaign to update the artwork for ‘Love Song’ with a collage of submissions from fans.
